Introduction

The sturdy upsurge in fuel prices and increasing environmental concerns have advanced electric car sales in the country. Also, the low cost of ownership and progressively expanding charging network have encouraged new car buyers and owners to consider buying the electric version of their favourite car brands and models.

Despite supply chain issues and limited inventories, the electric vehicle (EV) market is growing rapidly globally. Yes, the Indian automobile market has also welcomed the electric versions of cars from popular brands and has established a community in favour of this new technology. Yet, these vehicles are still considered inaccessible to many people due to their high upfront cost.

People are more mindful of their contribution to nature and their role in preserving what is left of the earth. One way of being careful and contributing to this good cause is to reduce global warming emissions. Leaving little to no carbon footprint will lead to establishing a stronger chance of conserving and saving nature.

Transitioning the Traditional

The global automobile industry is experiencing a sea change, with implications for the energy sector, as electrification is set to avoid the need for 5 million barrels of oil a day by 2030! How does that sound? This fiery growth means electric cars’ share of the overall car market has increased from around 4% in 2020 to 14% in 2022 and is set to increase further to 18% in the coming year.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are among the driving forces in the new worldwide energy economy that is rapidly emerging – and they are bringing about a historic revolution in the car manufacturing industry globally! The overwhelming majority of electric car sales to date are mainly concentrated in three markets – China, Europe and the United States. However, the Indian car market is also slowly acknowledging and accepting the smoother, noise-free and more environmentally friendly model of cars over the traditional fuel-run cars and bikes. This transition in the auto industry is not only huge but historical!
